Okay I'm a little extra excited about all the Halloween decor we've been seeing! Canadian Tire here is a treasure trove of spooky, creepy, and fun finds. Usually we grow our own pumpkins and they cook and carve them up...but this year they have been pretty dismal, which was sad. So off to a PUMPKIN FESTIVAL WE GO! Kiwi Nurseries out in Acheson Alberta is a local grower and supplier of over 1,000 prairie hardy trees, shrubs and perennials. And my favorite thing they offer are family friendly events and activities, like this pumpkin festival we checked out. At this event we were able to pick a pumpkin each (per child) out in the pumpkin patch, carve it and take it home. They also had an elusive silver pumpkin scavenger hunt and a fun toy scavenger hunt in the haybales for the kids. Later this month they also have a Haunted House and Trails as well as a Costume Contest. I loved walking out in the pumpkin patch and seeing all kinds of gourds. And when I saw they had a deal of 4 small gourds or pumpkins for $10 I had to pick out some cuties for myself! Kiwi Nurseries also has some goats and chickens on site to you can visit.
