Women in Litigation: Challenges and Success Stories - A SIPLA Panel Discussion

From differential treatment in the family to implicit and explicit disadvantage in the education system, to barely hidden glass ceilings at work, the challenges that go with the identity of being a woman take many different forms. This takes on many forms especially with the highly male-dominated legal profession, from the attitudes of the Judiciary to the systematic challenges faced by a woman, building her law practice brick-by-brick. In an extension of our goal of bridging the gap between theories and visions in the law and its practice, we at SIPLA are proud to present a Panel Discussion in collaboration with Think India on ‘Women in Litigation’. The event was held on the 21st of March, 2021. The speakers for this event were: 1. Bansuri Swaraj, Oxford alumnus and Current Additional Advocate General, State of Haryana 2. Nidhishree Venugopal, University Law College, Bengaluru alumnus and practicing Advocate in the Karnataka High Court since 2005. 3. Madhuri Divan (Senior Advocate), Additional Solicitor General (ASG) in the Supreme Court of India.
