All summer long we have selected all our climbs and backpacks specially in preparation for this trip into the Teton Range. Our main objective was to climb the South, Middle and Grand Tetons. We had a five day reserved permit and hoped that the weather would hold and the infamous rocky mountain thunder storms wouldn't foil our goal. We got incredibly lucky! We warmed up by climbing Middle and South Teton in the South Fork of Garnet Canyon. We then moved camp to the North Fork in the moraines. We scouted the Lower saddle that day as well. We began the Owen Spalding route up the Grand at 1:38am on Aug 17. After some rigorous route finding up the couloir maze we began the extremely exposed and astoundingly fun technical pitches! The route to the summit at 13776ft is over 1 mile of climbing and we did it through hail, wind, snow and rain. We arrived at the top at about 10am. A clap of thunder was heard on our journey down, but no lightning. Unbelievably excellent climb!!!!!
