The drill/saw in conjunction with “Intelligent Steel Fabrication” achieves hands off fabrication with industry leading automation. The material handler scans the bar code from the cut list and the comprehensive software takes over and directs all subsequent material handling task. The sections are automatically directed to the required work centers. As they enter each work center the material length is checked and the required CNC program is automatically entered to start each specific fabrication process. At any time during the process the production status and the physically location of each section can be viewed on a graphic of the system layout. FICEP invented and has received numerous patents for the automatic importation of the locations of the intersecting members from the 3-D model. These innovative patents eliminate any manual programming to establish not just holes but all the required layout locations. The Valiant family of FICEP multiple spindle drilling lines can be fully integrated with a FICEP engineered and manufactured band saw of a corresponding size. The band saws feature full automation of clamping, feeding, blade adjustments and rotation of the saw to the desired miter angle with positive rack and pinion positioning. Even the lateral position of the optional vertical clamp can be adjusted to accommodate the depth of the section being processed. Industries leading cutting times are achieved with a propriety pneumatic blade dampening system to reduce blade harmonics while increasing the life of the cutting tool. FICEP will also exhibit for the first time steel fabrication techniques and processes such as plate burning, drilling holes in steel plate, milling and automatic plate layout on the Gemini HDE. FICEP has combined different capabilities to achieve the ultimate in plate detail processing. The Gemini HDE features a high performance spindle that is capable of drilling, milling, countersinking, counter boring, tapping and more. An automatic tool changer with 24 stations enables a full complement of tools to generate diverse fabrication operations. The spindle design features sub-axes positioning in the length axis. This permits operations such as drilling, scribing and milling, for example, to be generated without a material unclamp and clamp cycle after each spindle cycle. In addition the dual bridge gantry remains stationary as just the spindle is positioning in both axis to generate processes within a zone. An automatic chip removal system is integrated into the dual bridge gantry system so the machining chips are deposited into a bin or chip conveyor. The thermal cutting is achieved with both oxy-fuel and plasma torches to achieve both speed and versatility when processing thicker plates. The Hypertherm plasma torches are incorporated into a programmable bevel head to achieve diverse cutting applications such as weld prep. The cutting table is a dry down draft system, which removes the particulate that results from the plasma operation. As an alternative the Gemini HDE can also be provided with a water table, which traps the plasma waste in the water. The Gemini HDE is available in different bed lengths to accommodate longer plates or the table can be sub divided. While one end of the table is processing a stock plate the operator can be removing finished parts from the other end of the table.
