A nice day sail in a force 5 to the point of ayre, quickly turned in a force 8 gale, when a squall came through around Maughold Head acceleration zone. Luckily we were prepared and fully 3rd reefed and nature all nature could do was gave us a good hiding. Unprepared yachts have been known to be dismasted around that headland when the wind is from the NW and the wind changes from nothing to gale force within minutes.
