Helllooo everybody and come along for the ride as I take on the task of rebuilding the Colorado Rockies here on MLB The Show 24. In this episode, our Rockies take the field for Year 3 Opening Day. All-Star Max Freid will take the bump for Colorado as Brandon Pfaadt opposes him for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Last year's NL West standings featured a three-way tie for 2nd place between the Rockies, D-backs, and Padres as each team missed the playoffs by just one measly game. Now entering a new season, it's playoffs or bust at this stage in the rebuild for the Rockies after making a splash during the Year 1 Offseason by adding players such as Fried, Pete Alonso, Anthony Santander, and Danny Jansen. Going back a few months into this past offseason, the Rockies continued to build this roster as they made a blockbuster trade with the Chicago White Sox as they acquired Luis Robert Jr. With another superstar in the mix, the Rockies are a projected Wildcard team for this season with a projected record of 85-77. Colorado will look to get off on the right note as the bats came ready to hit headlined by a 4-4 performance from Nolan Jones, along with home runs from Alonso, Yanquiel Fernandez, and Ezequiel Tovar. In addition to a good start from the lineup, Fried was solid on the bump before being relieved by the newly signed relievers Gregory Soto and Scott Barlow. Could they withstand a late surge from the D-backs? In the next episode, we'll simulate through April as we work into this Year 3 season. We'll bounce around the league and look at projected standings along with the Top 100 Prospects to debut this year. Featured at the #1 spot is our very own 2B Tom Park, followed by a fellow Rockie minor leaguer in 2B David Castilla--both of whom were drafted in the 2025 MLB Draft.
