Amsterdams flamencokoor Calle Real bezoekt haar inspiratiebron, Alosno (Huelva) Geïnspireerd door zijn reizen naar het Zuid-Spaanse dorp Alosno, dat ook wel de wieg van de fandango wordt genoemd, begon de Amsterdamse flamencogitarist Frans Nottrot in 1999 een flamencokoor. Het repertoire dat hij met zijn groep instudeerde was afkomstig van oude opnames van het vrouwenkoor van Alosno, die hij jaren eerder van zijn vriend en leermeester, de flamencogitarist Juan Díaz, had gekregen. Het betrof traditionele sevillanas (seguidillas antiguas) en fandangos Alosneros, die Frans in hun puurheid en originaliteit hadden betoverd. In mei 2023 reisde het Nederlandse flamencokoor, dat Frans Calle Real had gedoopt, terug naar de bron, om samen met een groep lokale artiesten (Vive Alosno), op te treden én deel te nemen aan een van de beroemdste traditionele feesten van de provincie Huelva, de Cruz de Mayo. Filmer Hans Jelles volgde het koor voor en tijdens de reis. Hij interviewde oprichter en artistiek leider Frans Nottrot, enkele groepsleden en dorpsbewoners. El repertorio que ensayó con su grupo provenía de antiguas grabaciones del coro de mujeres de Alosno, las cuales le había regalado años atrás su amigo y maestro, el guitarrista flamenco Juan Díaz. Se trataba de sevillanas tradicionales (seguidillas antiguas) y fandangos Alosneros, que habían cautivado a Fran por su pureza y originalidad. En mayo de 2023, el coro flamenco neerlandés, al que Fran había bautizado como Calle Real, regresó a sus raíces para actuar junto al grupo de artistas locales Vive Alosno, y participar en una de las festividades tradicionales más famosas de la región, la Cruz de Mayo. Inspired by his travels to the South-Spanish village of Alosno, also known as the cradle of the fandango, the Dutch flamenco guitarist Frans Nottrot started a flamenco choir in 1999. The repertoire that he studied with his group was derived from old recordings of the women's choir of Alosno, which he had received years earlier from his friend and mentor, flamenco guitarist Juan Díaz. It consisted of traditional sevillanas (seguidillas antiguas) and fandangos Alosneros, which had enchanted Frans with their purity and originality. In May 2023, the Dutch flamenco choir, named Calle Real by Frans, traveled back to its source to perform in various theatres, together with a group of local artists (Vive Alosno) and to participate in one of the most famous traditional festivals of the province of Huelva, the Cruz de Mayo. Filmmaker Hans Jelles accompanied the choir before and during the journey. He interviewed founder and artistic director Frans Nottrot, some group members, and village residents. This is his account of a joyful, festive, and musical encounter between the Dutch group and the proud heirs and guardians of a magnificent musical treasure.
