Learning to wing foil on Oahu. Everything you need to know to get started in this new sport. We go over history, wing handling, starting, turning, and safety. Sharing the stoke! What should I call it again? This sport uses two wings, one over and one under the water and they are both wings and foils. When editing I realized I use both terms to describe both wings which I'm sure is quite confusing but I hope it's clear from the context which one I'm talking about. This new sport does not have an official name yet but has been called wing foiling and wing surfing. From what I have heard the recommended wings are: Duotone (fixed boom is easy to grab and adjust hand positions, battens hold shape well but bigger package and can be more difficult to control when de-powered), Ozone Wasp and F-one Swing wing (both are light weight and handle well when de-powered/ luffing on a wave). This is the live chat stream from the video premiere: blueplanetsurf Good morning is anyone watching already? Bryn Kaufman Good morning Wet Feet Hawaii Ready! blueplanetsurf In the video we are doing a downwinder. We are launching in Hawaii Kai and finishing in Kahala. One of the challenges is having deep enough water that can be navigated with the foil. blueplanetsurf Good morning Bryn and Jeff! Thanks for this video, Im just starting need all the help i can get! 🤙 blueplanetsurf JFos77, cool, hope this helps. Bryn Kaufman It sure is hard to get. I have the Slingwing but have been waiting for the Ozone WASP 6 now for a long time. blueplanetsurf We have the Ozone wings on order and expect to have them in stock in early October, I have not tried it but heard it's one of the best on the market. J Fos77 i have done 2 sessions. One problem is the wind, not enough. i have the 4m naish wing and its not big enough for 12-17 k winds. They need bigger wings asap. blueplanetsurf Bryn, we are getting the 4M Wasp, the 6M is not in production yet but we will get those as soon as they become available. shaka ripper wow another teaser can someone enlighten me and let me know where you can actually buy one? seen these all over but they arent even available yet lol. this is getting old. Bryn Kaufman JFos77, that is exactly what I am thinking. J Fos77 shaka i picked one up at a local store in florida. it was the only one in town! shaka ripper lol exactly blueplanetsurf Yes, they are still hard to get. I only have the 4M Duotone and it works well for me in 15-20 knots shaka ripper only for a select few they are blowing it on producing these imo blueplanetsurf I think a 5M wing will be good for me in lighter winds. Bryn Kaufman Thanks Robert, looking forward to more availability. blueplanetsurf It's like the early days of foiling, it was super hard to get foils, now there are lots of options shaka ripper no wings are currently on the market Bryn Kaufman 👍 shaka ripper foils lose half the value the second you leave the shop you better love it before you Marc Übelhör aloha Bryn Kaufman Thanks Robert! Aloha J Fos77 in my town there is a wasp wing on display at the kite shop you want the number shaka? Wet Feet Hawaii Great video! Rodney Herzig Very cool 😎 blueplanetsurf 🤙🏼 Wet Feet Hawaii There is potential to foil anywhere with water and wind now, you don't need a wave. blueplanetsurf Yes Jeff, the wings really open up foiling to anyone with water and wind, no waves needed. blueplanetsurf It's also a lot easier to learn than downwind foiling with a paddle.
