Can the way we finance affect the way we farm? In this compelling talk, Chris Andrew argues that the power of choice can be given back to farmers and First Nations communities by revolutionising the way loans and farms are bought and financed. What are the consequences of our traditional finance and loan systems on the way we farm, and care for country in a future that will be affected by a greater rate of drought and other natural disasters as a result of Climate Change. And why can't we adopt new systems of Indigenous designed finance models to support First Nations land care and management practices? Chris Andrew is currently working with First Nations enterprises committed to nation (re-)building. With an early career in global investment banking and the oil sector - Now — his focus has shifted to focus on supporting people and businesses that accelerate community and environmental outcomes. Chris is an invited non-Indigenous advisor to a number First Nations organisations. Including The Waluwin Foundation: which was founded by Paul Girrawah House. The Waluwin Foundation is a social enterprise working to establish new banking and finance systems to support the purchase of freehold title farmlands by First Nations people. To revive traditional agricultural practices that care for Country and support communities.
