Aranmula Vallasadya or Valla Sadya conducted in the famous Sree Parthasarathy Temple at Aranmula on the banks of River Pamba in Pathanamthitta district in Kerala India is an elaborate feast as an offering (vazhipadu) to Lord Krishna . Hence this biggest vegetarian sadya is an absolute feast for those who attend this hindu temple cultural ceremony with a unique food festival . Palliyodam plays an important role in the Valla Sadhya ritual as it is considred as the escort to the deity who arrives in the Aranmula Sree Parthasarathy Temple through the sacred Pamba river. There are total 52 such Palliyodams to accompany the ritual. Aranmula Vallamkali is the famous boat race associated with the Aranmula temple and Onam celebrations in the context of Aranmula Vallasadya history .Hindu stories recollects the myth related to the largest vegetarian feast in India called Valla Sadya as that Lord Krishna the avatar of Lord Vishnu came to Aranmula in a bamboo boat through the sacred river Pamba . Once he disguised himself as a young boy and attended a feast offered by Mangattu Bhattathiri as part of an offering during Onam. While leaving, upon the request by Bhattathiri to visit again next year, the boy asked him to bring food to Aranmula Temple where he will be available. Kerala hindu temple story also adds that, later on the revelation made Bhattathiri to continue the feast at temple by bringing all vegetables for sadhya. This is considered as a turning point of Aranmula Vallasadya which later conducted as a temple offering by devotees to Lord Krishna as a unique food festival .
