Is housetraining not going as well as you hoped? Here are some tips for common issues. 1- Bring it up specifically with your vet to rule out medical issues 2-Take them out more 3-Restrict free access to potty areas, supervise more closely 4-Take them on leash to a designated potty area for a few minutes as a "business trip." Only walk around and play if they poo or pee. If not, head back in and come out a short while. 5-Have them drag a leash or keep them tethered to you when indoors so they can't wander off Bonus tips: -Never scold a rub a dog's nose in a mess. They'll likely learn that you don't want to see messes, and will start to eliminate in hiding. Also, it damages their trust in you and your relationship. -Get yourself an enzymatic cleaner (Nature's Miracle, Scout's Honor, etc). "Clean" for humans is very different from "clean" for dogs. -Dogs from puppy mills or who are crated for inordinate amounts of time will have a hard time with potty training. Be patient and help them learn at their pace. -Puppy pads teach your dog to pee/poo inside sometimes. This can make it very difficult in the long run; your dog might decide that they only pee outside when it's not raining for instance.
