Check out the playlist here:   • RWBY project (ongoing)   Oh boy, was this a Herculean labour; by far the most intensive thing I've worked on yet. This being my favourite RWBY song, I wanted to put the extra effort in to make sure it's the best it could possibly be, with meticulously minding every detail being the main factor in it taking long to complete. The other factor was that the reference material used here was incomplete, requiring me to do a bunch by ear to fill in the blanks. This is something I struggle with at the best of times, but making things more difficult still is that most things are a 8th note ahead of the beat. And this wacko timing threw me off like something fierce. Numerous revisions had to be made, often having a knock-on effect of one change requiring others to be changed, too. Regardless, once the notes were in place and timings mostly figured out, I set to work on the vocals. This alone took over 18 hours to do, not just because of the length of the song, but the amount of editing that needed to be done, with most of that work in turn going towards adjusting syllables to make things flow naturally. This was particularly difficult to do during the end of the choruses due to a combination of high speed and many syllables ending on a consonant. A lot of revisions were needed before I got something I was satisfied with. For the second pre-chorus, I also opted to re-write some of the lyrics. "Waste your life in vain" has always rubbed me the wrong way, since waste already implies the sacrifice was in vain, making the line redundant. So I changed it into something that keeps the message. But doing this also required changing a previous part, as it wouldn't have rhymed otherwise. The actual arranging process was more straight forward, with ideas coming to me quickly with things generally being once in place. The main exception being the solo, where it took a while for me to decide on how I wanted things to flow. There are more things to say, but this is getting long enough as is.
