In this simple drawing tutorial for beginners, I will show you how to draw a tree step-by-step with soft pastels on pastel paper. First, we will mark all the darks & lights. Then we will learn to blend soft pastels & to create sky holes between the branches of the tree. I will also show you soft pastel techniques I use to create a painterly effect & to make the tree look more realistic. For this tutorial, you will need a handful of soft pastels (greens & blues) & Ingres paper or Canson MiTeintes pastel paper (the reverse side).
