VBS Bank I Affidavit lays out extent of looting involving high ranking politicians

The EFF allegedly received about R16 million in donations from the now defunct VBS Mutual Bank. This is according to an affidavit submitted by former VBS chairperson, Tshifhiwa Matodzi. Matodzi has been sentenced to an effective 15 year imprisonment after entering into a plea agreement, pleading guilty to several charges that related to the collapse of the bank. Hawks Head Godfrey Lebeya says anyone, regardless of their political affiliations, who have had their hand in the cookie jar, will be visited. While the numerous officials implicated in widespread corruption at VBS are living large on their ill-gotten gains, the victims of that crime have a different story to tell. A minority shareholder, Madambi Muvhulawa, says he welcomes Matodzi's sentencing, but expressed disappointment at the slow pace of recouping investors' money...
