Repairing Johnston & Murphy loafers with Half-soles

In this video I breathe some life back into a pair of "Handcrafted in Italy" Johnston & Murphy woven leather loafers that have holes in the leather soles, and one sole has separated from the shoe. Although the best repair would be a full resole, I chose another path. I also cleaned and shined the shoes up with saddlesoap, then polished them with Saphir Medalle D'Or light brown cream polish. I dressed the edges of the soles and heels with Fiebing's medium brown leather dye, and polished the edges of the heels with brown kiwi wax polish. You may want to reference a couple of my other videos: "How to apply protective half soles to your shoes" (3 parts):    • How to apply protective half soles to...   "Shoe construction differences - Bonded, Blake Stitched, & Goodyear Welted":    • Shoe construction differences - Bonde...   "Re-soling shoes: half sole vs full resole explained":    • Re-soling shoes: half sole vs full re...   I purchase the half soles from eBay - look up "Goodyear Rubber Protective Half Soles Taps 6 Pair - Shoe Repair" ($22 for 6 pairs, seller is Nordshoe). The Weldwood contact cement is available in large cans or smaller bottles from Walmart. EDIT: one of the viewers Pointed out something I never considered, these shoes actually maybe Blake stitched with the leather sole split (like a hidden channel stitched Goodyear Welted shoe) to hide the stitch. Therefore, the part that separated was probably the split to hide the stitching. I’m not a pro, and I’m learning all the time, and I’ll continue to try to be as accurate as possible!
