The Original Pizza Hut was started by two Wichita State University students when the owner of a local building asked them to start a business. They were brothers named Frank and Dan Carney. The first restaurant was opened in 1958. Fun Fact: They only had enough room on their sign for 9 letters and knew they wanted the word Pizza in the name (which only left space for 3 more letters).
