OK, if I have to name my favorite band, ... even though my musical hero is Miles Davis, my favorite band would be The Gun Club. That first album, "Fire of Love"...a masterpiece. Later, so many different versions of this band. I was so lucky to see them 7 times, and all at the original 9:30 Club. My favorite shows were 1982 , 1989 and 1990. I have about 200 audio recordings of shows from around the world, every tour, even the infamous Australian one.. Every show is truly different. Jeffrey's solo album "Wildweed" is also magnificent. My favorite album is "Miami", though most people, including Jeffrey hate it. My favorite song is from there "Texas Serenade". Nick Cave says his favorite song is also from there, "Mother of Earth". But if someone wanted to hear their first Gun Club music, I would recommend that stellar first album. These few video clips show the later band with Romi on bass and Nick on drums. "Go Tell the Mountain" showcases how massive a talent Jeffrey became on the guitar. I have a thank you mention in Jeffrey's book, and actually auditioned as a drummer before Nick. So glad he got it though. He is perfect for that later band. I recently recorded a tribute CD, that I am very proud of and will eventually post here on my channel, as "GC does GC".
