Jammu Tawi Golf Course gears up to host PGTI, Kapil Dev may attend Jammu: The Jammu Tawi Golf Course (JTGC)—one of the picturesque golf courses in the country—is all set to host the six-day Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) third time in a row from October 22 to 27. The lush green Jammu Tawi Golf Course located along the banks of river Tawi in Sidhra area here in the city outskirts is expected to welcome 126 national and international golfers. Cricket legend and President of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), Kapil Dev may also attend the event. Secretary of J&K Tourism, Yasha Mudgal said, “The Jammu and Kashmir government is very well facilitating everything for the PGTI and this is the result of the department’s constant efforts of promoting tourism and particularly golf tourism because we have wonderful golf courses.” “We want to make it a regular feature. The best part is that the PGTI is also very keen on their own to hold the event in Jammu because of their wonderful experiences in the past,” said Mudgal adding, “I am hoping that such events will keep happening and its frequency will increase in near future.” President PGTI, Kapil Dev in a message has said that he will also attend the event for a day at Jammu. Expressing admiration for Jammu and Kashmir Tourism’s efforts in promoting golf, Dev said, “I thank J&K to have taken this step forward and this is a door opener for everybody else.” He stated, “I will be trying my best to be there for a day because I have heard a lot about Jammu Golf Course. I promise that I will come to Jammu as I would like to see the game myself.” Observing that the gold has reached to that level where tourism has become very-very important for the states, Dev said, “the Government of India should look into that so that more states become part of the PGTI.” Secretary, Jammu Tawi Golf Course, Manav Gupta said that the golf course is ready to welcome the professionals, adding, “yet again it is a proud moment for the people of Jammu to have a glimpse of their favourite golfers in their hometown and hosting PGTI for three consecutive years has brought the JTGC on the world map.” Jammu Tawi Golf Course, a full-fledged International Standard 18 holes Golf Course, has been chosen as the suitable venue by PGTI for the prestigious tournament. Designed by internationally renowned designer Colonel K D Bagga, the Jammu Tawi Golf Course (JTGC) has emerged as a hotspot among Club goers, especially young golfers who benefit both from the sport and club facilities and it is also one of the fastest growing clubs in terms of members.
