Become a Piano Superhuman Free Course: http://www.bestpianoclass.com/signup What’s up my piano friends. Today I’m going to be responding to some comments on the video “How Long Does it Actually Take to Learn Piano” (you can see that video here: • How Long Does it ACTUALLY Take to Lea... Now… the reason I’m kinda perturbed on a few of the negative comments is because I was SO CAREFUL with this video. I KNEW this would be a controversial subject, and I know everyone has an opinion on it. So in the original video I was VERY clear in what I was defining as “good at piano” (in three separate categories; technique, playing by ear, and learning songs), and exactly how long it’ll take somebody if they followed a specific practice plan for each. It’s a very practical answer that can give a beginner a “roadmap” and a realistic time frame on how long it’ll take until they’re able to play songs and get some results they can show their friends and family. There were a few complaints in the comments. First were the people that said “It takes a lifetime to learn piano”. Which is a DUMB answer! I’m sorry, but to say that NOBODY is good at piano until their life is over is ridiculous. And not is it only logically dumb, but it’s really doing a disservice to people who are just starting out. Instead of giving these beginners a realistic time frame they can use to plan and get motivated, this answer just serves to demotivate new students. I really think most of the people that give this answer simply want to sound “cool and sophisticated” instead of giving a practical answer that helps people. The second category was people who basically said it’d take a lot longer to master piano. Which, if you actually watch the video, I say NOTHING about MASTERING piano. I was clearly talking about how long it takes to get GOOD (and then I explicitly defined my definition of “good”). So it’s a completely different conversation. Lastly, there were people who like to just say “it depends” and leave it at that. I agree with this answer on a surface level, it DOES depend, but just saying “it depends” and leaving it at that isn’t practical. And leaves a beginner student with no answer to their question. I think it’s a lazy way out. Instead, let’s break down WHAT it depends ON (which is mainly how long you practice X the quality of your practice = your results). I think this type of answer is 100X more useful than just telling someone “it depends” and walking away. Anyway, hope you guys liked the video, feel free to leave a comment on this video, whether you agree or disagree, I’m always up for a healthy debate :) Happy practicing! -Zach Feel free to email me at any time if you need some more piano tips/advice: [email protected] Subscribe here: / @becomeapianosuperhuman6765 Or connect with me here: Facebook: / pianosuperhuman Twitter: / zachevansmusic Instagram: / piano_superhuman Watch me play piano at my other YouTube channel here: / keystroke3 Thanks for watching and subscribe if you want more online piano lessons and tutorials! -Zach Evans
