This is a 39 mm stainless steel watch with tungsten carbide – an Omega Pie-Pan revival. This watch is one for the traditionalists in size and sensibility. In many ways, this is the watch that Omega die-hards had been waiting on for decades. Since the Griffin Claw 1982 Omega Constellation Manhattan, there had been a clambering for a revival of the watch that most Omega aficionados associate with the constellation name — the original 1952 Pie-Pan Constellation. In 2015 at BaselWorld, Omega finally answered with a regular production Pie-Pan. The watch is 39mm across, 13 mm thick with a sloped tungsten carbide bezel, which allows it to easily slide underneath a formal cuff. The 46.5 mm from lug to lug watch wears well on a broad range of wrists, even down to as low as 13.5 cm in circumference. With this watch, Omega joins the ranks of watchmakers like Oris and Breitling, dabbling in tungsten as a metallic tone alternative to ceramics. The watch has a cushion case profile, which spreads the weight nicely. It is paired beautifully with a very substantial dark navy blue, bolstered, monotone-stitch, folded edge, alligator leather strap. The polished and satin finished clasp features the Omega logo and a twin trigger release, along with a minder system, giving the entire watch a clean aesthetic. The watch is fully lumed giving it sports watch sensibility underneath its formal watch credentials. It features the Calibre 8900. This watch is a great effort by Omega.
