Tasting Notes, a live exploration of food and music

Years ago I was convinced to keep music as a hobby while I pursued a different career. I'd always had a tinge of regret about that because there is nothing I love more than playing music with friends. (sharing a good meal with them afterward runs a close second). Over the years, ss I learned more about food, I soon realized that the parallels between music and food run deep and are worth exploring. Exploring that relationship with other passionate cooks and musicians has been a pursuit of mine for decades now. So when I moved to Seattle and connected with some old and new friends at the Seattle Chamber Music Society and started attending their concerts and joining their sight-reading parties, I not only found a wonderful new outlet for artistic for chamber music, I also found a new passion project: enlist the help of the finest musicians and chefs from Seattle and beyond to explore these parallels in a live stage performance. A performance that will not just explain ideas, but demonstrate and explore them in tangible, hearable, tasteable ways. That is how Tasting Notes (yes, you can appreciate the pun) was born. I am excited for this and I hope you are too. What: Tasting notes is a live stage performance exploring the connections between food and music, with live performances of classical masterworks by the world-class musicians of the Seattle Chamber Music Society, and cooking demonstrations from some of Seattle's finest chefs and restaurants. With your help, We will also be shattering the world record for the largest simultaneous chocolate tasting. Who: Watch Keiji Tsukasaki of Ltd. Edition sushi break own a whole tuna and prepare sashimi. See Kevin Smith of Beast and Cleaver make his incredibly ornate pâté en croûte. Watch (and taste!) as Kelly Van Arsdale of Spinnaker Chocolate tempers chocolate. See Aisha Ibrahim and her team prepare and plate one of Canlis’ most complex dishes in a multimedia presentation that will take you right into the restaurant's kitchens. Listen to violinists James Ehnes, Tessa Lark, and other members of the Seattle Chamber Music Society perform works by Schumann and Bach. (I'll also be hosting a series of talks and interviews with the guests, doing my own cooking demonstration, and, maybe, taking the opportunity to fulfill my lost dream of performing in a real concert venue to a real audience. When and Where: July 19th, 7PM, Benaroya Hall, 200 University St, Seattle, WA 98101, United States. GET TICKETS HERE: https://www.seattlechambermusic.org/e... After I quit pursuing music, never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I'd have the opportunity to share a concert stage with some of the finest musicians in the world in front of a real audience, and to bring these folks together with some of the finest chefs in the industry. It's equal parts exciting, inspiring, and nerve-wracking
