Years of adaptation to harsh climates, poor nutrition, parasite, and disease challenges have produced three breeds of cattle that are second to none for efficient production in the deteriorating landscape and tight economic margins of the future ... the Nkone, the Mashona and the Tuli. These Zimbabwean Sanga breeds occur naturally in the following environments: Mashona in the sour veld Highveld region, the Tuli in the sweet veld of the Western Lowveld and the Nkone in Southeast Lowveld, Matabeleland, and Midland regions. In Zimbabwe, we consider the Nkone cattle to be an important part of the country's livestock heritage.
