FSR 1.0 performance test about Thin lines Rendering and improved rendering or increased blur with temporal anti aliasing (TAA) SUMMARY / Sommaire HD 720p test 00:07 - Highlighting of the impact on the rendering of thin lines with HD resolution (720p), with and without temporal anti aliasing (TAA), during upscaling with FSR 1.0. 00:13 - Comparison of the rendering of thin lines 720p Native vs. 720p Native & TAA 00:26 - Comparison of the rendering of thin lines FSR 1080p Quality vs. FSR 1080p Quality & TAA 00:40 - Comparison of the rendering of thin lines FSR 1440p Performance vs. FSR 1080p Performance & TAA 00:55 - Comparison of the rendering of thin lines the 3 screens without TAA and the 3 screens with TAA FHD 1080p test 01:07 - Highlighting of the impact on the rendering of thin lines with FHD resolution (1080p), with and without temporal anti aliasing (TAA), during upscaling with FSR 1.0. 01:14 - Comparison of the rendering of thin lines Native 1080p vs. Native 1080p & TAA 01:27 - Comparison of the rendering of thin lines FSR 1440p Ultra Quality vs. FSR 1440p Ultra Quality & TAA 01:41 - Comparison of the rendering of thin lines FSR 2160p Performance vs. FSR 2160p Performance & TAA HD 720p & FHD 1080 test 01:55 - Comparison of the Highlights of the impact on fine line rendering with HD (720p) and FHD (1080p) resolutions, with and without temporal anti aliasing (TAA), when upscaling with FSR 1.0. 02:02 - Comparison of the rendering of thin lines / Top row : the 6 screens without TAA and with TAA / Bottom row : the 6 screens without TAA and with TAA 02:15 Thanks and configuration description DISCUSSION / Discution So here are the elements that I wanted to highlight and which I think are interesting to observe to compare the sequences of the video: 1- The definition (size of the pixels in the details or the outlines) the pixels of the captures in 2160p are worth 1 aside when the video is seen in 2160p. Pixel sizes increase as capture resolutions decrease (2160p = 100%, 1440p = 150%, 1080 = 200%, 720 = 300%). So the area of a square pixel of a 720p image is 9 times larger than that of a square pixel of a 2160p image 2- The intensity of the aliasing on: a. the fences b. the slides vs. the pylon d. power cables and crane 3- The loss of blooming in TAA (see red lights on vehicle braking warning devices) 4- The loss of sharpness in the details (between 720p and 1080p and with TAA) 5- Ghosting in fences (this is one example, there are others). LIMITATIONS / Limites du test This video was designed to be viewed on a 3840x2160 resolution screen with a resolution greater than 140ppp. The sequences captured in 720p, 1080p, 1440p were enlarged to 2160p, without antialiasing, to increase the size of the pixels, in order to compare the quality of the renderings of the different resolutions. So if the video is watched at a resolution of 1280x720p, then footage captured at 720p will be full resolution, but footage captured at higher definitions will lose resolution and some detail will no longer be visible. The video was encoded with the AMD H265 in UHD 2160p 60fps. It was uploaded to YouTube at 2160p to enable streaming in UHD, QHD, FHD, HD.
