Starting from the cellar door glitch elevator discovered by @Skippy0330, here's what I believe is the best improved version of it, using the wooden double door and pillar 0.5m blocks. There's another option using the 3x3 garage door and pillar 0.375m but it's not as consistent as the double door version. I also look at down elevators and if there's a good option there, and some other tricks!
