It’s February 24th, 2024, and I’m at Hanwell. Soon, GWR will be introducing the Class 230 on the Greenford branch for an upcoming trial of these units. 230001 headed down from Reading Traincare Depot to the West Ealing EMU sidings. In preparation for these units, fast charging equipment has been installed at Platform 5 at West Ealing. This video also features the Class 165 units that currently operate on the branch. If the Class 230 units are successful, it could possibly lead to more entering service on the Thames Branches and allow for the remaining Class 165 and 166 units to be used on other routes.
