1987 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe

Current look and condition of my 87 TBird! Originally a TurboCoupe but has been swapped to a 302 5.0 H.O. Much more enjoyable car now! This was my first car my parents helped me buy when I turned 16 and got my license, have kept it since and it has become a very long term project. Each of my parents have their own cars they have had since they were young and kept as well, inspiring me to do the same! It has gone through many stages and looks as you can probably see in some of my older videos, but lately I want to go back towards an OEM Plus look. The car was originally silver, and when I purchased it had a lot of primered body work done to it, so it had a paint job done by Maaco. I wanted to do black but decided to go more of a Charcoal/Anvil color to mask the small imperfections that black would show. So far to date the car has many new parts, here is the list of most of the things I can remember; Factory size tires 225/60R16 Brand new Moog 8599 OEM spec rear springs 98 Mustang GT front springs that lowers the front. Sanded down and re-cleared the inner and outer headlight lenses, I had purchased new headlights from Ford back when I got the car 10 years ago. Sequential tail light mod Flowmaster 40 exhaust with Stingers Performance tail pipes Grant 414 steering wheel, renewed and replaced steering wheel hardware with stainless square allen head bolts for a more "studded" look, also made my own custom horn button stickers to give a little OEM TBird touch to the aftermarked wheel. New FRP clutch cable & Firewall adjuster Chuck W custom motor mounts for the conversion Typhoon upper & lower intake SR Performance cold air intake & fender mounted filter SR Underdrive Pulleys C&L 73mm Mass Air Meter 130 Amp chrome Alternator 4.10 gears Tremec 3550 5 speed transmission.. I am currently in the process of trialing different methods to sand & polish these factory wheels (I started doing the passenger rear if you can tell in the video). I had really great results taking off the yellowing and pitting using just a can of Oven Cleaner and a green scrubby brush to take off the years of UV damage and brake dust/dirt out of the factory clear coat on the rims. But I still want to polish the faces of them like chrome. Still more to go! Needs new tires (ones on are old and splitting near the sidewalls), a new aluminum driveshaft that has to be custom made there is no shelf product for these TBirds (have driveshaft vibrations that I had balanced but does not fix the vibrations i'm getting when coasting down from 80 km/h and upwards. Also desperately needs a front windshield!! Already had some cracks near the bottom but I made a real nice spider web at the rear view mirror attempting to take it off the puck that's cemented to the glass. Oops! More to come!
