A "Gold Box" game. I really didnt realise i waited this long for the game to load, battles etc. Still i finished every title on the C64 and the Amiga back in the day. I would never play it off floppy again, though there is a Cartridge version that essentially loads right away. At the time i only ever heard of 'Dungeons and Dragons' being a pen and paper game, that i never actually played. Had a friend who bought this and i had to have a copy. There were about 5 of us from school who played it for over 2 months till we finished it. Oh the disk loading! 4 whole disks! It was the first in the series and arguably the best as it had an overland wilderness and a largely non linear game play. Was the only title to employ a full time TSR senior designer, which clearly shows in the product. Subsequent versions improved the game engine, such as pressing 'fix' to heal your characters in camp, though the sequels didnt have the charm of this one.
