Owning A Gun In Scandinavia?

I talk a bit about what it takes and what the requirements are to own a weapon in Denmark (legally of course). You have to be a member of a shooting club and be an active member for 2 years, if you want to own a handgun... after you have been active for 2 years, you must acquire a gun that you can keep in your home. If you do not remain active in the shooting club, you are no longer allowed to own a gun You must of course also be approved by the police Sports shooters may not own pistols less than 21 cm in length. and on the shooting ranges there can not be drawn from holsters. You can also get a hunting license, which you don't do just like that, but it is the fastest and easiest way to own your own firearm. You have to receive a lot of training and learn a lot about different animals, legislation and hunting related knowledge... then you have to take a practical and theoretical test. If you pass this, you can buy and own a weapon. You must of course be approved by the police, and you must not have a tainted criminal record or have been arrested recently. You must also have an approved gun safe. In order to go hunting, you must also pass shooting tests, one for shotguns and one for rifles. But what happens if you use weapons in self-defense, if, for example, there is a burglar rummaging around in your house at night. Of course, it depends on the circumstances and whether it is proportionate to the threat. If you are attacked with a deadly weapon, and your life is threatened, you will be granted immunity in emergency. Without pretending to be an expert on american law, I would say that we do not have the same stand your ground laws as places in America... so if you use your firearm against a burglary or as defense, you will most likely get yourself in prison, and probably for much longer than the thief you defend yourself against..
