Super Air Jet is an Indonesian ultra low-cost airline based in Soekarno–Hatta International Airport. The airline was founded in March 2021 and commenced operations on August 6, 2021. Super Air Jet was formally launched in March 2021, and is financed by Lion Air Group founder, Rusdi Kirana.[4] The airline obtained its Air Operator's Certificate from the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation on 30 June 2021 and will be launching the same year to 11 destinations in Indonesia. The airline is headed by Ari Azhari, who once served as the General Manager of Services for the Lion Air Group. Despite the airline's close connections to the Lion Air Group, its official channels has rejected claims of any formal ties to Lion Air and its subsidiaries. The airline adopts a low-cost carrier model that focuses on point to point journeys to transport passengers between islands in Indonesia. It focuses on millennials as a target market.[8] The airline will launch its services with six maiden routes from Jakarta to Batam, Medan, Padang, Palembang, Pekanbaru, and Pontianak. Super Air Jet launched flights with three used Airbus A320-200s which formerly flew for India's Indigo and Tigerair Australia. In recent years, the airport has received numerous awards and recognitions. Design Tropical gardens fill the spaces between Javanese-styled pendopo waiting and boarding pavilions. The airport's terminal 1 and 2 were designed by Paul Andreu, a French architect who also designed Paris–Charles de Gaulle Airport. One of the characteristics of the airport is the incorporation of the local architecture into the design and the presence of tropical gardens between the waiting lounges. These unique characteristics earned the airport the 1995 Aga Khan Award for Architecture. Terminal 1 Terminal 1 is the first terminal built and was opened in 1985. It is located on the southern side of the airport, opposite Terminal 2. Terminal 1 has 3 sub-terminals, each equipped with 25 check-in counters, 23 aerobridges, 5 baggage carousels, and 7 gates. It has the capacity to handle 9 million passengers per annum. The gates in Terminal 1 have a prefix of A, B or C. The gates are A1–A7, B1–B7 and C1–C7. In the latest masterplan, Terminal 1 will have its capacity increased to 18 million passengers per annum. Terminal 1 is used for domestic flights except for those operated by Garuda Indonesia, Sriwijaya Air, NAM Air, Indonesia AirAsia. Terminal 1A is home to Lion Air domestic flights (except to Sumatra & Bali). Terminal 1B is home to Lion Air domestic flights (only to Sumatra and Bali). Terminal 1C initially was a home to Citilink (domestic flights) and Trigana Air Service. The terminal was converted into a domestic low-cost carrier terminal (LCCT) in 2019. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, all flights in Terminal 1 were temporarily served at Terminal 2D and 2E to facilitate the renovation of Terminal 1, while Citilink moved all of its operation to Terminal 3.
