I might end up over sharing Tulip and her banana obsession. Lol. Have had several questions about beaver diets. Beavers are hind gut fermenters. This means they survive thanks to specialized bacteria in the gut that helps them break down plant matter. Sweet natural foods, like banana, are ok in moderation. The beavers get small portions of apple, grape and banana as occasional treats. Regarding their overall diets,I feed them a healthy diet of greens and root vegetables such as sweet potato. Never white potato! This diet helps them catch up with growth and provides nutrients. They get various browse as well.
