Marcy Tilton Fabric Design Series - Stamping With Metallic Paints on Velvet Fabric Technique http://www.MarcyTilton.com Stamping with metallic paints on velvet takes a bit of practice and extra care as you work. It’s similar to painting your nails: You get better results with two thin coats than one thick one. The results can be spectacular, evoking Fortuny, and are well worth careful preparation. Choose a stamp with a bold design and deep carved lines. Fine lines and details will blur and get lost in the pile. Too much paint will smudge and blur the design. I use a sponge brush to load the stamp with paint so the paint won’t easily get in the grooves of the stamp.
