When listening to some of the John Frusciante tones on "Unlimited Love", we immediately had the Walrus Audio MAKO M1 Modulation Machine in mind. So we thought...let's give it a quick try and why not experiment with the LoFi function a bit as well? Hope you'll enjoy it! 00:00 – Intro 00:12 – Black Summer (Standard version) 00:32 – Black Summer (LoFi version) 00:58 – Poster Child (Standard Version) 01:21 – Poster Child (LoFi version) 01:48 – Veronica (Standard Version) 02:15 – Veronica (LoFi version) BLACK SUMMER – This is a classic chorus riff from Frusciante with a little twist. Go to M1 and choose the Double Chorus setting to have this gentle but shaky stereo modulation. High rate and moderate depth is a common setting for RHCP clean tones. Our LoFi version uses some Drive, reverb (Space) and Noise to add some spice and atmosphere to this simple chord progression. POSTER CHILD – This is one of the weirdest tones you will find on Unlimited Love. This filtered sound has a lot of resonance and envelope tone control. Go to the Band Filter setting and put the Envelope at max and Tone at zero to let the dynamics of your playing open and close the filter. Remember to set Rate at zero to avoid synced modulation. In our LoFi version the sound is totally transformed by the full Drive setting. Just add some Noise and Space to this edgy but funky distorted tone. VERONICA – Here we have a nice arpeggio with some tricky passages and to make it more interesting we need some Phaser to help this sound better tell the story of Veronica with a melancholic mood. M1 here shows how it’s capable of moving the notes without sacrificing the original pristine clean sound of the guitar.
