Galiuro Wilderness Loop

Over President’s Day weekend Prima, Sittles, Travis, and I went backpacking in the Galiuro Wilderness. This Sky Island mountain range may be close to Tucson and I-10, but it is rugged and remote when it cones to hiking! Other than the initial entry trail and the historical Powers Garden area, the trails were incredibly overgrown and in some places completely gone. The cats claw bushes were merciless and the manzanita was dense. It was all worth it though for the incredible views of the rock outcrops and surrounding mountain ranges. This trail also had a wide variety of plant life and conditions ranged from dry trails to several inches of snow. At least there was an abundance of water!
