Burj Khalifa is known for being the tallest building in the world, standing at 2,717 feet (828 m). Being architecture royalty, the tower has an ionic telescopic spire and the world’s highest outdoor observation deck. According to reports, 12,000 builders and contractors worked on the project every day, and it is thought that 22 million person-hours were required to finish it. It is specifically designed to overcome wind resistance. The structure ascends to the heavens in a series of stalks that peak out unevenly around the central spire. This structure houses the world's largest pendulum. A total of 1.59 million cubic feet (45,000 m3) of concrete weighing more than 110,000 tonnes was poured for the foundations. The amount of steel rebar used in creating Burj Khalifa is 31,400 metric tons. The Burj Khalifa has 57 elevators and eight escalators with main service elevator, positioned in the central core of Burj Khalifa, has the world’s highest elevator rise at 1653 feet (504 m). It travels 29 feet per second (10 m/s) and has the world's longest elevator travel distance. The tower's peak electrical demand is estimated to be 36mW, which is the equivalent of approximately 360,000 100 Watt bulbs operating at the same time. Burj Khalifa’s water system supplies an average of 250,000 gallons (946,000 L) of water daily and at peak cooling, Burj Khalifa will require about 10,000 tonnes of cooling.
