It's back as a light & airy summer top! ☀️ This top uses the same seamless top-down joy-to-knit construction, but with breathable yarn for warm days. Beginners, this is for you! Get ready to fall in love (again) and knit your own Mellow Mood tee! SKILL LEVEL: Don't worry if you're new to garment knitting. As long as you're comfortable with the knit and purl stitches and have tackled projects like scarves or hats, you have the skills to create this top. METHOD: This top is crafted seamlessly using circular needles, and it’s worked in the round from the top down. It starts at the neckline, progressing into a yoke. We’ll add rows to the Back, working flat between the raglan lines to create a flap that shapes the neckline. The yoke is then divided to create both the body and sleeves, which are finished separately. SIZES: This top is designed with approx. 3-10 cm/ 1-4 inches of positive ease. I am wearing a size S and, I am 168 cm tall (5’6’’) with a 89 cm (35 inches) bust circumference. Check out the chart on the photo (on Etsy or Ravelry) to help you decide which size to choose. 🍭 MATERIALS 1. YARN. This top can be made with a variety of yarns. Here's what I used for the samples: Sample 1 (Brown) was worked in Drops “Belle” yarn (53% Cotton, 33% Viscose, 14% Linen), 8 ply / DK / worsted, 50 g/ 120 m or 1.8 oz/131 yards per skein, color # 25, Forest Brown). - You will need*: 6-7-7-7-8-8-9-9-10 - 50 grams/1.8 oz skeins for your size. Or 770-815-880-917-982-1048-1113-1179-1244 yards. Sample 2 (Powder Pink) was worked in Sandnes Garn “Line” yarn (53% cotton, 33% viscose, 14% linen) 4ply, 50 g/ 110 m or 1.8 oz/120 yards per skein, color # 3511, Powder Rose). - You will need*: 7-7-8-8-9-9-10-10-11 - 50 grams/1.8 oz skeins for your size. Or 770-815-880-915-980-1050-1110-1180-1245 yards. * If you substitute with a not-plant-based yarn, you'll likely need 2-3 more skeins. 22 Yarn options! CIRCULAR NEEDLES. - For neck, cuff, and body ribbing: 3.5 mm (US 4) circular needles in the following lengths: 40 cm (16 inches), and 80 or 100 cm (31 or 40 inches). - For yoke, body, and sleeves: 4 mm (US 6) circular needles in the following lengths: 40 cm (16 inches), and 80 or 100 cm (31 or 40 inches). You can use the Magic Loop technique and work with one needle length of 80-100 cm (31-40 inches). 3. Cable needle. 4. Tapestry needle: Used to slip the sleeve stitches onto scrap yarn and to weave in ends. 5. Stitch markers: You'll need 8 markers, with one of them in a different color to mark the beginning of the round. ____________ GAUGE is 20 sts x 29 rows in a 10x10 cm (4x4 inches) piece in stockinette stitch on 4mm (US 6) needles (after blocking). ____________ ⏱ TIMESTAMPS 00:01 Intro 03:25 Neck: The journey starts here. 05:33 Yoke: Defining the Top's Silhouette. 15:13 Small but helpful knitting tips: 17:14 Control point 1 17:51 Shaping the Neckline. 20:41 Dividing for the Sleeves and Body. 26:22 Body: The Knitting Groove 31:11 Control point 2 33:17 Control point 3 33:33 Body: Bottom edge.
