Everyone hates car issues but in this video I have an easy fix for Mercedes owners that see the message that says “Check coolant level – See owner’s manual”. Well the owner’s manual was no help so I made this video to help you. But before you follow the steps in this video you have to WAIT UNTIL YOUR ENGINE IS COLD! So first thing before you head out in the morning find and open the coolant overflow bottle in the left side of the engine compartment. When I opened my coolant cap I could see that it is low. The coolant should be at a level that covers all the white plastic inside. Also take note of the coolant color while the cap is open. Mine uses pink. Then I went to the Mercedes dealership and bought a gallon of antifreeze. It cost me about $38 and was pretty much the same price as what I saw online. Plus I had reassurance I had the right type for my 2015 C300. This antifreeze is concentrated and has to be mixed with distilled water. Depending on the year the part number for your Mercedes might be different than mine. The nice thing is that on the side of the official bottle I was able to confirm that this is pink antifreeze which is what I needed. Also there's no need to mix the entire bottle so I filled a smaller container with distilled water and mixed an equal amount of antifreeze to it. This needs to be a 50/50 mix. With the half and half mixture of coolant and distilled water, simply pour it into the coolant bottle until it just covers the white plastic “T” inside. When done just wipe up any coolant that may have spilled and replace the coolant cap tightly. When I started my C300 I didn’t see the low coolant message anymore. And after a week of driving I haven’t seen the coolant warning since. The last thing I want to emphasize is to ONLY CHECK YOUR COOLANT WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD! Plus make note of the color of your coolant before buying. My 2015 C300 uses pink but prior years might use blue. Also the price I paid at the Mercedes dealership was pretty much what I would’ve paid online.
