Steve Miller Band Space Intro/Fly Like an Eagle/Wild Mountain Honey HQ with Lyrics in Description

Tracks 1, 2 & 3 from their ninth album "Fly Like an Eagle" released in 1976 copyright Capitol Records. It was recorded at CBS Studios in San Francisco and was produced by Steve Miller. I think this might be in my Top Ten list for "desert island albums" not only because of the great music but mostly for the great memories it invokes every time I hear it. The carefree mid-seventies, in buddy's basement, halfway through high school and plotting how we would take over the world if we ever got the chance! No, not really. Instead we got baked to the eyeballs smoking the best black hash from Afghanistan between a pair of hot knives heated on buddy's Mom's stove. It's a very effective method of endorphin delivery and works quite quickly. Of course, you can never have just one. This great album was the soundtrack to so many of those evening get-togethers and we played it over and over, just chilling and being inspired by its greatness. You can tell I really love it, right? Unfortunately, the girls were few and far between in those days. We were all left to lust after the big-breasted girl next door, who we soon got to know since we invited her to come over and she did several times. The cutest guy in our crew actually got some minor action there and the rest of us were momentarily crushed, but we soon got over it. We seized the opportunity and decided to spy on them through a basement window to try and catch a glimpse of some flesh as they were on the couch below fumbling with each other. Pretty sad, right? But we were short of other options for entertainment at the time, being teenagers in a small town. We didn't see anything interesting anyway, dammit! The album cover photo shows Steve playing a left-handed black Strat. It was originally ordered from Manny's Music in NYC by Jimi Hendrix but was never picked up due to his untimely death in England at the age of twenty-seven. Steve was able to purchase the guitar and strung it backwards for a right-handed player to play upside down, and he did. This was their biggest-selling album and it received excellent reviews. It reached No. 20 in Germany, No. 16 in New Zealand, No. 11 in the U.K., No. 7 in the Netherlands, No. 4 in Canada and No. 3 on the Billboard Chart. It was certified Gold in the U.K., 2X Platinum in Canada and 4X Platinum in the U.S. Written by Steve Miller/Steve Miller/Steve Miller & Steve McCarty and produced by Steve Miller.
