Nestled within the heart of the Poconos is Scranton, nicknamed "The Electric City" because it one of the first cities with streetlights powered by its own electricity. The city has many other historical claims, with one being Steamtown National Historic Site, located on an old Delaware, Lackawanna & Western rail yard. Throughout the summer, the park operates the Scranton Limited, a short train ride that shuffles through the yard and then onto the beginning of the Nay Aug Gorge. On specific weekends, the park's sole operable steam locomotive, Baldwin 26 is tasked with hauling these rides. Baldwin Locomotive Works 26 is an 0-6-0 switcher that was constructed in March 1929, hauling the manufacturer's Eddystone Plant for the first 19 years of her career. In 1943 she was sold to Jackson Iron & Steel company, where she would remain until saved from scrap in 1978 by Jerry Joe Jacobson. The locomotive was then acquired by Steamtown in 1986 and was operational by 1990. 26 sat idle from 1997 to her return to excursion service in 2015, making her the only operational steam locomotive in the entire Steamtown collection.
