Hornets and Harriers provide cover for Marine Corps paratroopers as helicopters bring in platoons of riflemen. C-130’s provide aerial re-fueling overhead while M1-A1 tanks and LAV’s support the ground offensive. Spectacular special effects simulate air- to-ground explosions. This year, Miramar takes the opportunity to recognize the contributions and sacrifice of our female warriors with our theme of “100 Years of Women in the Marine Corps”. From the first female enlistment in August 1918 to the graduation of the first female infantry platoon commander in September 2017, women have served with honor and distinction. Comprising approximately 8 percent of today’s Corps, women serve at every rank from private to lieutenant general, in all occupational fields, in support of world- wide operations both in combat and in peace.
