Reserve Bank of India on Friday said regulated entities (REs) have the freedom and they must offer all categories of retail loans either on a fixed or floating interest rates basis. At the time of sanction of EMI-based floating rate personal loans, RBI said regulated entities are required to take into account the repayment capacity of borrowers to ensure that adequate headroom or margin is available for elongation of tenor and or increase in EMI, in the scenario of a possible increase in the external benchmark rate during the tenor of the loan. ► Subscribe to The Economic Times for the latest video updates.
