Presentation Description: Tingbjerg Changing Diabetes is a long-term, complex, community-based health promotion initiative carried out in the disadvantaged neighbourhood of Tingbjerg in urban Copenhagen, Denmark. The initiative aims to strengthen diabetes prevention, detection, and management by addressing the social and structural determinants of health. The presentation introduces Tingbjerg Changing Diabetes and explores the challenges and potentials of embracing complexity in partnership structures and community actions as a means to achieve sustainable health outcomes. Speaker: Dr. Paul Bloch Paul Bloch is a senior public health adviser and researcher with more than 30 years of international experience in community development, disease control and operational research. He holds an M.Sc. degree in biology, a PhD degree in epidemiology and a diploma in public health. His professional focus is on research-based development with an emphasis on health promotion research, health systems research, and community-based participatory research. Paul Bloch works as a senior researcher and team leader for prevention research at the Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen in the Capital Region of Denmark. He is currently involved in interdisciplinary research and development around complex interventions and mobilisation of community-based stakeholders and their resources for the promotion of social development and healthy living.
