Exploring the Beautiful and Challenging Smiley Rock Trail

Smiley Rock Trail is an off-road trail suitable for Jeep Wrangler Rubicons and Ford Broncos, particularly if lifted with larger tires. We started on CR 72 just North of Jerome Arizona, a picturesque old mining town, which is a shelf road with steep drop-offs and sweeping views of the Verde Valley below and for hundreds of miles beyond. This trail is rugged and remote and safely navigating the many large boulders in Martin Canyon requires care. As usual, Fran and I traveled alone. You will see if this trail is right for you, whether your vehicle is capable enough for the trail and whether you would be comfortable on this trail alone, meaning 1 vehicle, 2 occupants.
