No frog tongue? No problem! Tips for shooting the SX-70 in bright sun!

My name is Jake and I overhaul and repair instant cameras! Got a camera you need fixed? Links below to get in touch! In this video I demonstrate two CRUCIAL tips to help prevent large 'light leaks' in your pictures. If you shoot a lot in bright, outdoor scenes, then this video is a MUST WATCH. Like what I do? Find this video helpful or entertaining? Feel free to buy me a beer (or two!): https://ko-fi.com/theinstantcameraguy Getting artifacts in the video? For best quality, manually select 1080p quality, as depending on your bandwidth, YouTube may default to 720p - and YouTube's 720p compression looks like garbage ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This video was inspired by my client Stan, who wondered what was causing this bizarre 'hombre' effect on his photos. The cause? The super bright Aussie sun! The solution? Better shielding! Modern Polaroid film, as of this videos upload date of Feb, 2024, is still somewhat sensitive to very bright sunlight. Here is my take on the subject, from a technicians point of view. Shot in three totally improvised takes over about 15 minutes. Topics covered: 00:00 - How bright sun can ruin your shots 01:30 - The "chest eject" method 03:23 - The "dark slide tongue" method 04:37 - Frog tongues 05:55 - A little info on temperature Hopefully you find these tips useful! In cloudy weather, or if shooting indoors, shielding is not very necessary. These tips only really apply to extreme sunlight, such as what we experience in the harsh Australian summer! Happy shooting! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Got a Polaroid that needs some love?
