Würzburg and UNESCO Residence - Regierungsbezirk, Franconia - Bavaria, Germany | Drone aerial view

I visited Würzburg as part of a road trip through the Romantische Straße I took with my wife in early April 2019. We drove from Tauberbischofsheim to Würzburg and arrived around 4pm on the 7th of April. After picking up our hotel room we headed to the Würzburg Residence, a UNESCO World Heritage Site constructed between 1720 and 1744 and nearly destroyed during the British bombing of March 1945 following which it has been completely rebuilt. The interiors of the palace are truly stunning; worth mentioning is surely the impressive world largest fresco created by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, which adorns the vault over the staircase designed by Balthasar Neumann. Following a stroll through the palace gardens we walked to the city centre passing through the Würzburger Cathedral, the Museum am Dom, the Neumünster, and the charming Alte Mainbrücke (Old Main Bridge). After a good night sleep the following day we completed our visit to Würzburg by walking to Marktplatz, the Marienkapelle and then along the riverside towards the popular landmark Alter Kranen. We then picked up our car to reach our last stop in Würzburg that was the Marienberg Fortress after which we drove to Frankfurt. ———— Video recorded with: DJI Mavic 2 Pro Editing software: DaVinci Resolve 16 Music: Prelude No. 3 by Chris Zabriskie; licensed by http://chriszabriskie.com/ under CC BY 4.0
