Schönheit, die nicht vergeht. Schick und gepflegt wie am ersten Tag, so präsentierte sich die 104 Jahre alte Malletlok 99 5906 bei ihren Abschiedsfahrten am 13. und 14. Mai 2022 im Selketal. Eisenbahnfans aus aller Welt nahmen dankbar das Angebot der Harzer Schmalspurbahnen an, die für die letzten Fahrten der überaus beliebten Malletlok einen Sonderfahrplan erstellten. Die Beteiligten haben sich viel Mühe gegeben, nicht nur zahlreiche Doppelein- und Ausfahrten waren so recht nach dem Geschmack der zahlreichen Eisenbahnfreunde. Großer Wehmut kommt auf sich vorstellen zu müssen, diese Lok nicht mehr im Betriebs- oder Sonderzugdienst erleben zu können. Aufgrund abgelaufener Fristen abgestellt im Lokschuppen Hasselfelde wartet sie jetzt auf bessere Zeiten. Eine weitere Aufarbeitung ist wie man hört in naher Zukunft leider nicht angedacht. Sehr schade, da dies die letzte betriebsfähige Malletlokomotive der Harzer Schmalspurbahnen war. Bekanntlich teilen die Malletmaschinen 99 5901 - 99 5903 mit den Dreikupplern 99 6101 und 99 6102 dasselbe Schicksal der Abstellung. Somit stehen bei den HSB nur noch die schweren Fünfkuppler 99.22-24 unter Dampf. Man kann nur hoffen, daß ähnlich wie bei den Sächsischen Schmalspurbahnen man sich auch bei den Harzer Schmalspurbahnen darauf besinnt durch eine Typenvielfalt das Erlebnis Schmalspurbahn für die Touristen und Besucher in naher Zukunft wieder attraktiver zu gestalten. In Sachsen wurde sogar eine IK neu gebaut. Wenn das mal keine Vorgabe ist Vorhandenes wieder betriebsfähig aufzuarbeiten...
