Following the Second World War, a number of German generals were executed in front of huge crowds. General Gottfried von Ermannsdorff was a commander who was in control of repelling Soviet Red Army soldiers and forces on the Eastern Front. He was in control of Mogilev, and he was told to defend the city at all costs but the German defenders and Ermannsdorff could not keep up and with this he was captured by the Soviets. He was then brought to the Minsk trials and he was during this accused of a huge number of crimes including the slaughter of civilians. But following this he was sentenced to death and alongside many others in Minsk on a huge gallows he was executed.
