TripaDeal Warriors of China, Suzhou

Back from the #tripadeal #warriorsofchina trip, 20 October to 1 November. What a rollercoaster! I enjoyed every minute. Several years ago, I lived and worked in Suzhou for a whole year, and loved it, so I was predisposed to like this trip, too. My previous China experience was interrupted by Covid, and I have felt sad about that ever since. I would have liked to stay in China longer. Despite and outside the lockdowns, back then I was able to experience China in so many ways. I didn't get to see the iconic places, such as Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden Palace and the terracotta warriors in Xi'an, so this trip was partly to fill that gap. The other, equally important part, was to revisit the beautiful Suzhou and see my friends and former colleagues at XI'an Jiaotong Liverpool University. Sadly, on this fast-paced tour, that was not possible. XJTLU colleagues, it didn't happen this time, but I am sure we will see each other in the future. Tourism in China was severely affected by Covid, but hopefully things are now getting back to normal. I am proud to say that Australia seems to be leading the way!
