Before his demise, Cayde-6 was the Hunter Vanguard Mentor, wielder of the Ace of Spades, one time slayer of Taniks the Scarred and an iconic hero of the tower. But he only became the Hunter Vanguard mentor after the unfortunate demise of his friend Andal Brask. Andal was the Vanguard before Cayde, who had lost a bet against him over who could successfully hunt down Taniks the Scarred.
