What no one tells you about NavigationLinks! Almost every SwiftUI tutorial that includes a detail view has a very basic NavigationLink on each row, that turns the row into a button and then segues to the detail view when clicked. This is great and very easy to implement, however, this is not very practical in most applications. In this video I will walk through the problem with the default NavigationLink setup and then we will hack together a custom solution for our application. The goal of this is to have the "detail view" only initialize when we need it to! This way, we can add some additional logic (such as another API call) when we load the next screen. I will note that there are other solutions to this "lazy" loading as well, but I felt this was the best solution for our app/skill level. I hope you all understand why we're doing this :) *** LINKS: - Downloadable Resources: https://www.swiftful-thinking.com/dow... - CoinGecko API: https://www.coingecko.com/en/api - CoinModel API: https://api.coingecko.com/api/v3/coin... - Market Data API: https://api.coingecko.com/api/v3/global - Buy Me A Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/nicksarno Next video: • Download coin details by creating a d...
