秘魯“Lake Titicaca” 的的喀喀湖 是全世界海拔最高 (3812 公尺)大船可通航的高山湖泊, 也是南美洲最大的淡水湖. 這個湖泊中裡面有 51 個島嶼, 大部分都有人居住, 也有幾個島嶼上面都有印加時代的神廟遺址. 而讓 Lake Titicaca 的的喀喀湖 最出名的就是數十座漂浮在湖上, 用蘆葦草鋪成的人工島嶼. 到目前那些島上還有人在上面居住, 形成很特殊的景色. Lake Titicaca is a large freshwater lake in the Andes mountains on the border of Bolivia and Peru. It is often called the highest navigable lake in the world. By both volume of water and by surface area, it is the largest lake in South America. Lake Titicaca has a surface elevation of 3,812 m The "highest lake" claim is generally considered to refer to commercial craft.
